Şarkikaraağaç Vocational School was established on October 31, 1995 under Süleyman Demirel University.

Veterinary Health Technician (Laboratory and Veterinary Health Technician)


Level of Qualification

This program corresponds to Level 5 within the framework of the Turkish National Qualifications System and the first cycle (short cycle) of the Bologna Process. These levels allow universities to structure and regulate qualifications for academic progression. Compliance with national qualification standards and related regulations is determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).


Admission Requirements

Applicants must hold a high school diploma and achieve a sufficient score on the National University Entrance Examination (ÖSS).


Recognition of Prior Learning (Transfer, Vertical Transfer, etc.)

Graduates of this program may continue their education in Veterinary Faculties or Schools of Health Sciences through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To earn the associate degree, students must successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses in the curriculum with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 and complete a 30-day internship as required by the program.


Program Objectives

The program aims to train qualified professionals who:

  1. Prioritize occupational health and safety in laboratory environments,

  2. Maintain and operate laboratory equipment efficiently,

  3. Collect and preserve biological samples (blood, urine, culture, etc.) properly,

  4. Prepare materials for analysis and perform biochemical, microbiological, pathological, and hematological tests,

  5. Verify and report analysis results accurately,

  6. Follow technological and scientific developments in the veterinary field,

  7. Exhibit compassion and ethical awareness toward both humans and animals,

  8. Work effectively under field and environmental conditions,

  9. Perform herd treatment, vaccination, and first-aid applications,

  10. Acquire knowledge in equine care and breeding,

  11. Contribute to productivity and sustainability in animal husbandry,

  12. Combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications,

  13. Apply veterinary and laboratory techniques in compliance with national and international standards.

Graduates are expected to:

  • Demonstrate competence in laboratory procedures and animal health practices,

  • Use laboratory technologies effectively,

  • Apply diagnostic and treatment support methods under the supervision of a veterinarian,

  • Uphold professional ethics and animal welfare,

  • Engage in lifelong learning in veterinary sciences.


Employment Opportunities

Graduates can work in:

  • Public medical analysis laboratories (via KPSS exam),

  • Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (public positions via KPSS),

  • Private veterinary clinics and polyclinics,

  • Private medical and veterinary laboratories.


Opportunities for Further Studies

Graduates who succeed in the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) may continue their studies at the undergraduate level in relevant fields such as Veterinary Medicine or Health Sciences.


Assessment and Grading

All examinations and evaluations are conducted according to the regulations of Isparta University of Applied Sciences and the university’s examination guidelines.

The program is conducted full-time, using various teaching methods such as:

  3. Visual and applied training,

  4. Discussion-based teaching.
